You have to be the person you’d like to become. It’s a simple concept, if you want to be a different person, you have to act a different way, or you will stay the person you are. You’re going to have to put your vision for yourself into action. To become a blogger, you must write consistently. To become a gym rat, you must make exercise a part of your lifestyle today. To become someone who always has clean laundry and an organized closet, you must fold and put away your laundry. If you want to eat healthier, you have to buy healthy food. To run a million-dollar empire, you must start acting like you have a million-dollar empire. If you want to be a content creator, you’re going to have to create content.

It’s not going to be perfect immediately, everything has a messy middle, and that’s okay. Sometimes things need to get messy. Think about a baby learning to walk. She wants to become a walker, so she stands up. It’s a little shaky at first, and it feels very different from what she’s known, but eventually, she finds her groove, and she’s unstoppable. We wouldn’t chastise a baby for not being able to walk immediately. So why do we do it to our inner selves? We must nurture, encourage, and cheer ourselves on when trying something new. You’re allowed to get it wrong. You’re allowed to change your mind. You’re allowed to try.
It’s all about your routines and habits, getting rid of those that no longer serve the person you want to be, and building up those you will need to become the person you want to be in the future. It’s doing what the future you would do now. Or maybe it’s not about you at all. You may be envious that your friend Sheila seems to have it all together (She doesn’t either, but that’s a story for a different time), so you ask yourself, “What would Shelia do?” And then do that. Simple, right?

Transformation is about embodying another persona. You can always try before you buy. You can slip into a different identity easier than putting on jeans after a shower. You need to try them on and give them a chance. Sometimes they look good on the hanger but don’t feel right once you’ve got them on. Sometimes, they fit like a glove. Sometimes if you’ve worn them for a while, they start to get old and ratty, and even though you love them and they are comfy, it’s time to let them go. Everything is up to you. You get to decide. You get to choose who you want to be. No one else in this world can live your life. If you want to become someone different, you will have to be someone different. Embrace it, sink into it, and become it. Whatever IT is.
