What drives you to make the decisions you do in life? A bit of a loaded question I realize; but it is an important thing to know. Being able to communicate what drives your decisions, is the only way to truly inspire action. Once you are clear on what you want you also learn what you don’t want. When was the last time you gave this question a second thought? We don’t often take time to reflect deeply on this, but we should.
Get a clear vision for your life
In the book Start With Why by Simon Sinek, he says “vision is the ability to talk about the future with such clarity as if we are talking about the past.” This message really resonated with me. Clearly defining what you want is what actually makes your wants possible. This is why I believe it is so important to spend time envisioning your ideal spaces and setting clear intentions for your home.
Imagine if you could be passionate and inspired in all aspects of your life including your home. We only get one life to live, so why not live that life completely fulfilled and to our greatest potential. To do that, we must determine our “why”.
What do you desire?
For some, the answers may be clear, but to others (me included for the longest time), the answers are more elusive…. sometimes you think you have it all figured out and then the next moment you are left questioning yourself! No matter which category you fall into, clarifying your why is life changing.
If you want to be happy—truly happy in your life, you NEED to discover what you are passionate about and go after it. You can spend your life finding your passions and pursuing them, or leave the call unanswered — I would rather pick the first option and once you uncover your desires all the things that no longer serve you are easy to let go!
Here are some tips to help you find your why:
Self-Discovery Questions
Get to know yourself
Like really know yourself. Ask yourself questions you may not have asked before. What are your passions? If money was not an object, what would you do? What is your definition of success? Really push yourself! You will be surprised at what you learn.
Journaling
Writing is truly a window into the soul. Each day write down your thoughts. What did you enjoy? What do you wish you did more of? I know this sounds simple, but over time it may reveal your passions.
Observe
Sometimes you just have to sit back and observe! When people come to you, what are they typically asking you? This can give you a picture of what others see you are passionate about!
Be Unapologetically YOU
Your life purpose is different from everyone else in this world! Listen to your heart, it will always guide you in the right direction.
In a world full of confusion and chaos, finding your why can bring clarity and inspiration to your life and help you live life to your fullest potential.
